Al-Assad in Madrid to open from Damascus to Cordoba exhibition

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and the Spanish King Juan Carlos today evening open the exhibition " from Damascus to Cordoba." The exhibition will be held by al-Andalus government at the archaeological complex in al-Zahraa city which is close to Cordoba in the Southern part of Spain.

At 7 p.m. ( Damascus Time), President Bashar al-Assad and hi wife arrived at Madrid's International Airport in an official visit to Spain at the invitation of King Juan Carlos during which they will open the said exhibition.

The president was welcomed at the airport by the Spanish foreign minister Josep Pique, the Syrian ambassador in Madrid and the Spanish ambassador in Damascus.

Then the President and his wife left for al-Bardo palace, the residence of the President during his stay in Spain.

The President and his wife visited the Spanish king and his wife Queen Sofia at Sar Sweilar palace, where they were welcomed by the King, the Queen and the crown prince Philip.

The President and the King exchanged gifts and they had their dinner at the banquet of the royal family.

The President is accompanied by an official delegation composed of the foreign minister Farouk al-Shara; the minister of education Mahmoud al-Sayyed, the minister of higher education Hassan Risheh the former minister of culture Najah al-Attar and the deputy foreign minister Siba Nasser.
