Bashir to visit Egypt to strengthen relations
Sudan-Egypt, Politics, 5/2/2001

The Sudanese daily al-Rai al-Am said on Tuesday that the Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir will pay a short visit to Egypt in the mid of this month, at the invitation of the Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.

The paper quoted well-informed political sources as saying that Presidents al-Bashir and Mubarak will discuss during this visit developments on the regional and international levels, especially the tense conditions in the occupied Arab territories as well as bilateral relations and the efforts exerted to establish peace in Sudan through reactivating peaceful initiative especially the joint Libyan- Egyptian initiative and IGAD's initiative.

The sources added the two presidents will also discuss the implementation of projects which were agreed upon between the two states in the areas of the economy, investment, agriculture, industry, road construction so as to improve relations between the two states towards integration.
