Mrs. Mubarak presides over African Child Conference

The National Council of Childhood and Motherhood held an expanded meeting to prepare the items that would be discussed in the African Child Conference.

The Conference is scheduled for the end of May, under Egypt's First Lady Suzanne Mubarak, and with the participation of the spouses of the African Presidents and international experts in various domains.

The Conference aims at formulating a unified African stance at the special session of the UN General Assembly on childhood next September.

Ambassador Moshira Khattab, Secretary General of the National Council of Childhood and Motherhood said that the meeting had discussed the necessary studies, and the major axes that deal with the rights of the African child, and the challenges that face him such as poverty, aids, and illiteracy.

It also dealt with the role of political leadership and media to advance childhood in Africa.
