Maghreban meeting in Algiers on World Press Freedom Day
Maghreb, Culture, 5/1/2001

Journalists and media officials from the five Maghreban countries, Algeria, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco and Tunisia, will attend a seminar on media and racism to be hosted by Algiers May 7-8.

The seminar, sponsored by the German Friederich Naumann Foundation and the UNESCO, is held to mark the World Press Freedom Day.

The seminar, also held in the frame of the international year against racism, xenophobia and intolerance will focus on three topics, "Maghreban emigrants in Europe: Western and Maghreban media perception,," "intolerance and respect of freedom" and "Windhoek " Ten: progress of press freedom in the Maghreb."
