Gulf, Politics, 5/1/2001

A Bahraini official source said on Monday that the leaders of the six Arab Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states will hold a consultation summit in al-Manama on May 14.

The ruler of Bahrain Sheikh Hamad Bin Issa al-Khaleifa, who presides over the GCC at the meantime, held on Monday talks with the secretary general of the GCC Jamil al-Hujeilan on preparations for this summit.

A source at the GCC in al-Riyadh said that leaders of the six GCC member states will review during this summit which will last for one day the regional situation and cooperation among their states.

The consultation summit which will be held in al-Manama is the third of its kind following the Jeddah summit of 1999 and Muscat summit of the year 2000. The recent ordinary summit of the council was held by the end of December in al-Manama.
