Sudan is pleased over US conditions to improve relations with it
Sudan-USA, Politics, 4/30/2001
The Sudanese minister of information Ghazi Salah Eddine has described the three American conditions to build better relations with Sudan as more positive than the tone of the former US administration.
In a statement to the Sudanese daily al-Rai al-Am issued on Sunday, the Sudanese minister said " we hope the US administration had realized that the Sudanese government proposed a comprehensive position to cease fire in Southern Sudan," noting that the rebellion movement laid obstructive conditions before ceasing fire, adding that the war is the reason behind the sufferings of citizens in Southern Sudan and that actual solution is to halt this war.
For his part, the secretary general of the ruling National Congress Party in Sudan Ahmad Ibrahim Omar expressed to the paper his optimism over the improvement of Sudanese- American relations. He said that the US has started to view the Sudanese more objectively than it used to be in the past.
For his part, the chairman of the Sudanese Ummah Party al-Sadeq al- Mahdi described the American conditions as reasonable and acceptable, stressing to the paper that these conditions should be coupled, in what can prove that the rebel movement is ready to respond with it in order to avoid military escalation by any side.
