Tens of Palestinians wounded as a result of Israeli bombardment of Palestinian areas

Confrontations erupted on Friday in various areas of the West Bank and Gaza after Friday's prayers and one Palestinian was killed and tens wounded by the Israeli bullets against the Palestinian civilians while the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas said that " martyrdom operations will continue."
News reports said that confrontations started from Jerusalem when the Israeli forces broke into the courtyard of al-Aqsa mosque under the pretext of inspecting stones and explosives and then Arab citizens replied to these offensive acts by clashing with the Israeli forces and the confrontation extended to Bab al-Asbaat and Bab al-Majlis.
News reports were contradictory on that Ismael Abu Romeyah was killed by the Israelis in Khan Younis after Palestinian assertions that he still receives medical treatment in Beer Sheba hospital.
News reports said that the Israeli forces used intensively bullets and bombs against the Palestinian demonstrators and bombarded the Palestinian statistics bureau in Ramullah and this resulted in destroying the building.
Five Arabs were hit in the confrontations which took place near Qalindya while Israeli sources announced that shells were fired from Nablus, Jenin al-Khalil at Rakha and Betonia settlements.
The Israeli forces arrested Assad Kamel Shetaya, the secretary of the Fatah movement in Salem village under the pretext of opening fire at Israeli targets and also arrested Saleh Abu Hamid, the secretary of the movement in Khan Younis at Rafah crossing as he was heading for Egypt.
Meantime, a Palestinian official said that the security meeting which was held on Friday between Palestinian and Israeli officials did not achieve any progress and that the Palestinian side stressed during the meeting the need of full implementation of Sharm esh Sheikh understanding and freezing the settlements. But the Israelis refused to abide by the understandings which were already accepted by Barak government as a base for the negotiations and also refused to declare halting of the settlement.
Meantime, Israeli sources said that the Israeli foreign minister Shemon Peres will give back a stipulated answer to the Jordanian- Egyptian initiative in order to resume the negotiations.
But the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon said he totally rejects this initiative and refuses to freeze the settlement.
