Saudi Arabia: no place for woman before the wheels of the car
Saudi Arabia, Culture, 4/27/2001
The Saudi minister of the Interior Prince Nayef Bin Abdul Aziz said that he still prevents women to drive a car in Saudi Arabia, stressing that this issue will not be fulfilled (that woman will not be permitted to drive cars.)
The Saudi News Agency quoted Prince Nayef as denying rumors on making a study on the possibility of permitting millions of Saudi women to drive cars. The Saudi minister explained:" there are no talks about a study permits women to drive cars in Saudi Arabia."
The Saudi prince also refused to announce a date to issue identity cards for women, in implementation of the project announced by the Saudi government in 1999, stressing he had said " every thing will be in its due time."
