Al-Shara holds talks with Spanish counterpart

The Syrian foreign minister Farouk al-Shara on Wednesday discussed with his Spanish counterpart Josep Pique the latest developments in the region and the policy of escalation and aggression being followed by iIrael.

The Spanish minister, during the meeting expressed his country's care for consolidating Syrian- Spanish relations, especially in the light of the important visit which will be paid by President Bashar al-Assad to Spain.

The meeting was attended by the deputy foreign minister Ms Seba al-Ali and the Spanish ambassador in Damascus.

Earlier in the day the Spanish minister arrived in Damascus on a visit to Syria. In an arrival statement Pique said that his visit to Syria is part of a Middle East tour to be acquainted closely with ways of pushing the ME peace process forward.

He said:" We are working and will continue to work for establishing a just and comprehensive peace." Bilateral relations and ways of developing them in all domains will be discussed during this visit, the Spanish minister added.
