New department in Oman to promote investment

OMan is establishing a department for investment and gatherings to be affiliated to the Directorate-General of Technical Affairs, said the Omani official news agency.

"The new department is to identify investment activities in each wilayat, promote investment, organise gatherings and establish a database relevant to each wilayat," the report said.

"The department will also assess applications for investment by the private sector, facilitate procedure for establishment of private projects and regulate implementation of projects and organising of gatherings...The department will conduct studies to improve gatherings, coordinate financial matters with the department of financial affairs and plan promotion of entertainment and cultural gatherings in coordination with the Department of Awareness and Information," the report added.
