Egypt, a staunch supporter of Palestinian, Arab rights
Egypt-Regional, Politics, 4/24/2001
"Egypt, under President Hosni Mubarak, is the biggest supporter of Palestinian and Arab rights in Al-Quds (Jerusalem)," said the country's Mufti Nasr Farid Wasel.
In a four-day seminar on Al-Quds for university students in Port Said, Wasel said that AL Aqsa Intifada should be supported by all available means.
The top clergyman called on all Muslims to back it and abandon rhetoric and demonstrations.
He underlined the Arab identity of Al-Quds and said that Arabs have inhabited the land three thousand years before the birth of Christ.
Moreover, he underlined that historically speaking Jerusalem is an Arab City, and that Al-Aqsa Mosque, Jerusalem and Palestine will certainly be liberated.
