Jordan protests Israeli attempts to obstruct al-Aqsa maintenance
Jordan-Israel, Politics, 4/24/2001

Jordan has officially protested against Israel for placing obstacles before the current renovation and maintenance works in al-Aqsa mosque, carried out by the committee of al-Aqsa mosque and the " Dome rock."

The secretary general of the royal committee for Jerusalem's affairs in Jordan Abdullah Kanaan said in statements to the press that there are Israeli attempts to obstruct the renovation works in al-Aqsa mosque.

He added that the Jordanian government had protested to Israel against these attempts which aim to halt the renovation process.

Kanaan added that Israel has to know very well that "al-Aqsa mosque has flaring red lines that burn every one approaching it," stressing, on the other hand, that Sharon has no intention to proceed into peace steps or implementing international legitimacy resolutions.
