Beshara denies connection between his current visit to Damascus, Arafat's visit
Syria-Palestine, Politics, 4/24/2001
The Arab member at the Israeli Knesset Azmi Beshara has denied any relations between his current visit to Damascus and the forthcoming visit the chairman of the Palestinian Authority Yasser Arafat will make to Damascus or any type of Palestinian- Syrian meetings.
Beshara ruled out in a statement to the United Arab Emirates UAE daily al-Khaleij ( the Gulf) issued on Monday that the Palestinian leadership is with the Jordanian- Egyptian axis instead of Syria, considering that renovation of relations between the Syrian and Palestinian leaderships needs some time, due to the long differences in the view points between the two sides towards the peace process.
Beshara expressed his conviction that the chance is valuable and prepared to improve relations between the Syrian and Palestinian sides at the meantime, noting differences are not personal.
