Yemen to reschedule Russian debts
Yemen-Russia, Politics, 4/24/2001

The Yemeni foreign minister Abu Baker al-Qurabi has announced that Yemen seeks to reschedule its debts with Russia, estimated at $ 1.3 billion.

In a statement to AFP, he made on Sunday evening before he headed for Moscow, Al-Qurabi added that the Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh will discuss this issue during his coming visit to Moscow in May, SANA reported.

He explained that during the past years some 80% of the Yemeni debts were dropped by Russia and only left 20% of the debt, noting that this rate will be among the topics to be discussed for rescheduling.

He added that President Ali Abdullah Saleh will also discuss with the officials in Russia bilateral relations and the situation in the Middle East and the daily aggressions practiced against the Palestinians by the Israeli army.
