Morocco-Senegal, Politics, 4/21/2001

The Moroccan-Senegalese joint commission will meet next June to debate means to upgrade bilateral cooperation, Senegalese foreign affairs minister, Sheikh Tidiane Gadio, announced Thursday.

The commission will have as a prime objective to give a new momentum to cooperation in all sectors, especially in education, Gadio said at a joint press conference with visiting Moroccan secretary of state for foreign affairs and cooperation, Taieb Fassi Fihri.

The official also stressed that Morocco and Senegal share the same positions on the major international dossiers. He lauded the Moroccan-Senegalese cooperation as ""globally positive" and praised Morocco for the backing it extends for the reform of Senegal's telecommunications sector.

Taieb Fassi Fihri is visiting Senegal, where he handed Thursday President Abdoulaye Wade a message from King Mohammed VI.
