Confrontation escalated in the occupied Palestinian territories

In a new provocative step in its escalated aggression against the Palestinian people, the Israeli army broke on Friday into the courtyard of al-Aqsa mosque following Friday's prayers and opened fire at the people who were performing their prayers who confronted the Israeli force and then the confrontation expanded to cover the whole city of Jerusalem.

Israeli sources admitted that two of its military men were wounded in the confrontation and news reports indicated that strong confrontation took place in the streets of Jerusalem during which citizens clashed with the Israeli forces using stones and glasses especially in Bab al-Asbat area.

News reports said that the Palestinian Intifada youth prevented the Israeli settlers from breaking into areas in Hebron and that the Israeli occupation forces opened intensive fire in support of the settlers and this resulted in wounding several Palestinian youths.

Other four Palestinians were wounded by the Israeli bullets in Ramullah while carrying Palestinian flags and chanted slogans against the occupation and calling for the escalation of the Intifada.

In Rafah, strong confrontations took place and the Palestinian journalist Layla Oudeh who works for Abu Dhabi TV was hit in her leg by the Israeli soldiers.

The TV correspondent Ayman al-Razzi said that the Israeli forces deliberately opened fire at correspondents in the area of Salah Eddine Gate.

In Nablus, the Israeli forces carried out a campaign of arrest covered 8 Palestinians under the pretexts of searching for weapons shelters.

The Israeli forces also inspected the houses of 18 Palestinian officers in Abu Deis and al-Ezareyah areas near Jerusalem and destroyed the furniture and frightened women and children.
