Morocco backs Kofi Annan's candidacy to second term as UNO chief
Morocco, Politics, 4/20/2001
Morocco on Thursday renewed backing to Kofi Annan's candidacy to a second term as Secretary general of the United Nations. This came during a meeting held in Rabat between the Moroccan and Ghanaian foreign ministers, Mohamed Benaissa and Hackman Owusu Agyemang. "Morocco will spare no effort to back the candidacy of Ghanaian Annan, as this was expressed during the latest Arab summit in Amman," Benaissa said.
Annan, whose first term as UNO chief comes to an end next December, is running for a second term.
