Syria-Israel, Politics, 4/18/2001
The Israeli daily Maareve said on Tuesday that Israeli ministers and members in the Knesset called on the legal advisor of the Israeli government Elakime Robinshtine to bring the parliamentarian Abdul Malik al-Dahamesha ( the united Arab list) before the court after he had sent a cable of condolences to the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad over the killing of Syrian soldiers in the attack against Syrian positions in Lebanon.
The paper added that several " Rightist" parliamentarians called for enacting a law that enables taking urgent measures to quit parliament members because of " treason statements like those of al-Dahamesha" the spokesmen for the "rightist" described al-Dahamesha as a " fifth queue."
In his cable to President al-Assad al-Dahamesha said: " I would like to convey my condolences for this criminal strike carried out by the government of Israel, constituting the declaration of war not only against the Palestinians but also against the Syrians."
