Hamas and al-Khatib's visit to Israel
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 4/17/2001
The Palestinian national resistance movement ( Hamas) on Monday considered the visit of the Jordanian foreign minister Abdul Illah al-Khatib to Israel as "a violation to the position of the Arab nation and peoples which stress the need of boycotting the Zionist enemy."
In a statement commenting on the visit of the Jordanian foreign minister to Israel on Monday, Hamas called for halting all forms of contacts or meetings with Israel and not to give it the chance to legalize terrorism it practices against the unarmed Palestinians through such visits and meetings which do not express the position of the Arab nation and her ambition to an official Arab position that complies with the Palestinian Intifada and its great sacrifices.
The statement indicated that the political move especially al-Khatib's visit and "the security meetings with Israel all come amid a Zionist escalation in Palestine and Israel's new bombardment of one of the Syrian radar positions in Lebanon and killing and wounding of several Syrian soldiers."
