A Syrian official source said today ( Monday) the following: At 12.20 p.m. Today, April 16, 2001, Israeli air formations violated the Lebanese airspace and bombed one of our positions in the Lebanese territories. Our defense forces intercepted the raiding Israeli planes.

The Syrian foreign minister Farouk al-Shara today ( Monday) starts a visit to Moscow that will last for two days during which he will hand a message from President Bashar al-Assad to the Russian President Vladimir Putin. Al-Shara will also hold talks with his Russian counterpart Igore Ivanov and will meet also with several high ranking officials with the aim of consultation on bilateral relations between Syria and Russia and developments on regional and international issues.

Egyptian medical and security sources reported on Sunday that an Egyptian girl was hit by Israeli bullets in the Egyptian part of the border city of Rafah between Egypt and Gaza. Sources at Rafah hospital where the girl was admitted said that the girl, whose identity was not revealed was hit on Saturday by a bullet in her shoulder when she was in the courtyard of her house, situated 500 meters from the borders.

Speaker of the Belgian Senate, Armand De Decker, on Saturday wound up an official visit to Morocco, that was meant to enhance Moroccan-Belgian relations.
