Tunisia: poverty rates decreased in the year 2000
Poverty rate decreased in Tunisia in the year 2000 to 4.2% after it was 6.2% in 1995. This is due to the developmental policies purused by the Tunisian government since the year 1987. A policy which gave special interest to social care and fair distribution of profits, as more than one million inhabitants benefited from loans given by the National Fund for solidarity known as Fund 26-26, which was established by the Tunisian President Zein al-Abidin Bin Ali in 1992.

President Bashar al-Assad on Friday received a message from the Romanian President Ion Eliescu. The message was handed by the Romanian assistant foreign minister during his meeting on Friday with the foreign minister farouk al-Shara in Damascus. Go

Well-informed sources in Amman said that the Jordanian King Abdullah II will visit Oman next Saturday and he will be accompanied by an official delegation including high ranking ministers and consultants. An Omani source said the visit falls in the course of bilateral relations linking the two countries. The Sudanese foreign minister Mustafa Othman Ismael has announced that the IGAD's summit to discuss peace in Sudan will be held in this month. Ismael who was making press statements, did not state a certain date for this summit, but the executive secretary of IGAD's secretariat Atallah Hamad Bashir said that this summit will be held by the end of this month ( April) in Nairobi and will basically discuss means of halting the war in Southern Sudan. Under Article 40 of the Moroccan Constitution, the House of Representatives' legislative years is divided into two sessions: a fall session, opened by the King on the first Friday of October, while the fall session starts on the second Friday of April.
