Israel Readies to Attack Arab Countries, Official

Israel is preparing to launch attacks against neighboring Arab countries, Kuwaiti news agency KUNA reported, quoting head of the political department in the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Farouk Kaddoumi.

In an interview with the jordanian "al-Rai" daily published in Amman Saturday, Kaddoumi said Israel's preparedness to launch these attacks is no longer a secret and recited recent statements made by Israeli officials regarding strikes against Syria and other Arab countries.

Kaddoumi affirmed that Israel is aiming at destroying all attempts of peace so that the Middle East region would be in a state of limbo, neither peace or war.

The PLO official added that Palestinian President, Yasser Arafat will be sending a delegation to Syria in the near future to prepare for the Syrian-Palestinian summit due to take place at the end of April.

He pointed out that this is the first visit of its kind and that Arafat will be discussing with Syrian president Bashar Al-Assad a strategic program.

On the Arab summit recently held in Amman and the "situation" between Iraq and Kuwait, Kaddoumi did not give any clarifications on the Iraqi stance but only said that there were developments.
