Kuwait will not accept reconciliation with Iraq
Kuwait-Iraq, Politics, 4/14/2001

The first deputy for the prime minister in Kuwait Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah who is also the foreign minister said that his country will not accept the reconciliation with Iraq not now or in the future.

In a statement to the London- based al-Sharq al-Awsat daily on Friday, al-Sabah added that the Iraqi political address is one of the most important reasons which necessitates that.

The Kuwaiti minister denied his country to have had " connected matters" behind the scenes at the recent Amman's summit, noting that Kuwait has tried to heal its wounds and agreed what the Arab leaders agreed upon, yet the Iraqi regime stood intransigent.

Al-Sabah noted that the question of Kuwait is now with the Jordanian King and that he is optimism over the capability of the King and his role to solve all suspending issues, thanks to his comprehensive knowledge about the Kuwaiti case, especially the question of the missing and the prisoners, whom the Iraqi refused to release.
