Mubarak, Gaddafi hold plenary meeting
Libya-Egypt, Politics, 4/12/2001

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak held a plenary meeting on Thursday with Libyan President Muammar Gaddafi with the attendance of officials from both sides.

"Mubarak and Gaddafi showed determination to convene the Joint Higher Committee as soon as possible and activate cooperation in a number of projects that are already under way between the two states," said Minister of Information Safwat El-Sherif.

"A number of meetings between Ministers from both sides were held on the sidelines of the Summit meeting between Mubarak and Gaddafi," said El-Sherif.

"The Ministers of health discussed cooperation in the field of pharmaceutical research and likewise the Ministers of Petroleum took up integration in the relevant domain," added El-Sherif.

"In the field of electricity a date has been set to inaugurate the power link-up project that ties Egypt, Libya and extends as far as the Arab Maghreb region," he said. Media officials in Libya have been invited to visit Egypt, El-Sherif said.
