No Cabinet reshuffle, only a new Foreign Minister
Egypt, Politics, 4/12/2001

Egyptian President Mubarak has expressed his pleasure with achievements made at East Oweinat region and increase of areas reclaimed.

Mubarak voiced his belief that the US administration understood the Egyptian viewpoint as regards the situation in the Middle East.

Mubarak told reporters that Egypt has been adopting a clear-cut stance regarding regional developments.

US President George W. Bush, State Secretary Colin Powell and national security adviser Condoleezza Rice understand the Egyptian viewpoint, Mubarak reiterated.

Asked about a possible Cabinet reshuffle in the current phase, Mubarak said he could not issue a presidential decree on a cabinet reshuffle, being restricted to the general state budget.

He, meantime, said a new foreign minister would be chosen, adding that the new top diplomat has not been picked yet.

President Mubarak, meanwhile, lauded the progress achieved in the East of Oweinat area as well as its quality production of vegetables and fruits.

"Vegetables and fruits grown in East of Oweinat are exported to European countries at premium prices, as the area is clear of all sources of pollution," Mubarak said.

This is a groundwater-rich area, where agriculture is expected to spring over a large area, Mubarak added.

In his second visit to East of Oweinat, the President said the green area increased by 500 Feddans more.

The armed forces implement this giant project in the current phase; however, in a later stage green areas would be put on sale for citizens.
