Iraqi president and the Arab states
Iraq-Regional, Politics, 4/10/2001

The Iraqi dailies on Monday quoted the Iraqi President Saddam Hussein as saying that several Arab states have started to reconsider their calculations and positions towards Iraq under the pressure of two factors: the pressure of their Arab masses and the pressure of national interests.

The Iraqi president added that the Iraqi oil flows into a country that needs it not necessarily because they love Iraq, but mostly for their national interests.

The Iraqi President indicated that the realization of certain Arab states of the fact that there is no benefit for their countries in continued hostility with Iraq, made them mend their positions, noting " one who maintains agreement with the Americans will challenge his people and interests."
