Austria to increase its imports of Iraqi crude oil

The trade chancellor at the Austrian embassy in Baghdad Franz Shreodher said on Monday that Austria wants to increase its imports of crude oil from Iraq, according to the oil-for-food agreement with the UN.
News reports quoted Shreodher as saying that the Austrian oil companies have recently held talks with the Iraqi ministry of oil on increasing these imports, noting that the value of Austria's imports of the Iraqi crude oil reached in 2000 $ 302 million, representing 51% of the value of its total imports in 1999.
Shreodher added that Austria has exported electrical and medical equipment and medicines to Iraq worth $ 29.3 million. He expressed his hope that a new increase will be made especially after re-opening the commercial section at the Austrian embassy in Baghdad.
