Russia opposes measures against Iraq

The Russian deputy foreign minister Vaselli Seridin has asserted that Russia firmly opposes the illegal practices against Iraq and the interference in the affairs of a sovereign state.

In the international seminar on the situation in Iraq held on Monday in Moscow under the title " ten years of sanctions. A road which is not conducive to a solution," he said that the Russian diplomacy will intensify its efforts to abrogate all sanctions imposed on Iraq, stressing that the Iraqi problem should be settled by political and diplomatic means only.

He criticized the continued air striking of north and south Iraq, a practice which is in contradiction with international norms and charters.

He explained that de-voiding the UN humanitarian program from its content deliberately raises resentment not only in Moscow but also at highest levels. SANA.
