Sanctions on Iraq and the American official

The London-based al-Sharq al-Awsat daily said that an official at the US administration expected in a statement to it on Thursday that experts from countries neighboring Iraq, which are Jordan, Syria, Turkey and Iran are to hold meetings in June in order to discuss means of implementing the new formula of the sanctions imposed on Iraq.
The American official stressed that American experts will take part in these meetings which will discuss means of alleviating conditions relating to the delivery of civilian commodities and on the other hand tightening the imports of weapons and military equipment and on the smuggling operations from and into Iraq.
