Egyptian, Syrian, Jordan and Lebanon gas project to be operational before July

Egypt's minister of oil Sameh Fahmi has stressed that the Egyptian gas pipe to Syria, Jordan and Lebanon which is 950 Km length will be operational as from next July.

Fahmi explained in an interview with the Egyptian magazine al-Mousawer that this pipeline will be extended from the Egyptian al-Areesh district to the Jordanian al-Aqaba port and then to Amman and from there to Damascus and Homs ( in Syria) and from Homs to Tripoli in Lebanon.

The Egyptian minister added that this line will be protected according to standard international criterion in protecting international lines.

Fahmi expected that an amount of 4 to 6 billion cubic meters of the Egyptian gas to be pumped annually to Syria, Jordan and Lebanon during the first phase and it is possible that this amount will be doubled during five years to follow the first phase.
