Cairo denies chief Intelligence visit to Israel

The Israeli daily Yediot Ahronout reported on Friday that the chairman of the Egyptian intelligence Omar Suleiman arrived in Tel Aviv secretly on Wednesday evening to meet with the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon.

The Israeli radio quoted the paper as saying that Suleiman arrived, delegated by the Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak to inform Sharon with the results of Mubarak's meeting with the US president George Bush in Washington this week.

The paper quoted Israeli sources as saying that President Mubarak got the support of President Bush on a formula that aims at halting the confrontation totally between the Israeli and the Palestinian sides.

Meantime, An official source denied what the Israeli Yediot Ahronout daily alleged that President Hosni Mubarak delegated his chief intelligence to Israel secretly on Wednesday. The source said that the Chief Intelligence was among the delegation accompanying President Mubarak in his visit to Washington and on his return to Cairo.
