Iraq reopens its embassy in Norway

The official spokesman for the Norway's foreign ministry Karistin Klibsvek said on Thursday that Iraq will reopen its embassy in Oslo and that he will be appointed as a charge de affairs there.
News reported quoted Klibsevek as saying that Iraq's decision came following the decision taken by Norway to reopen the headquarters of its mission in Baghdad in the mid of the current month.
On the other hand, the spokesman for the Iraqi charge de affairs in Stockholm Mohsein al-Haidari said that Iraq has re-opened its diplomatic missions in the Scandinavian states since the mid of the 1990 s with the exception of Norway which it intends to re-open its embassy there.
Norway had decided to reopen its embassy in Baghdad after it had closed since 1991, after it on January 2001 assumed the presidency of the UN sanctions committee against Iraq, noting that it can assess the humanitarian condition in Iraq in the field in a better way.
