Al-Assad discuss with Slovak counterpart bilateral relations, the region

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and President Rudolf Schuster of Slovakia, who started a visit to Syria on Wednesday, discussed bilateral relations, the situation in the region and European and International issues. The two sides expressed their concern over the situation in the region because of the wave of the Israeli extremism.
President al-Assad said that Syria who contributed in launching the peace process had stressed its commitment to this process, while the Israeli extremism and Israel's escape to implementing international legitimacy resolution prevent the realization of peace.
President Schuster said that the realization of peace in the region requires the realization of the UN resolutions.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Slovak President and his wife arrived in Syria and they were welcomed by President Bashar al-Assad and his wife as well as by senior high ranking officials.
The Slovak President is accompanied was accompanied by an official delegation including the foreign minister, the minister of state at the ministry of the economy, the state secretary at the ministry of finance and the President's first advisor.
On Wednesday evening, the two Presidents held a meeting at al-Shaab palace. It was attended by the Syria two vice Presidents Khaddam and Masharqa, the prime minister Muhammad Mustafa Miro, the foreign minister farouk al-Shara' and the Slovak side was attended by members of the delegation accompanying the Slovak President.
Talks dealt with bilateral relations, the situation in the region and European and International issues.
The two Presidents stressed the two countries's joint interests to developing and expanding bilateral relations for serving mutual interests.
The two sides also expressed their concern over the situation in the region resulted from the current wave of extremism in Israel and its negative impact on the general conditions in the region and on peace efforts.
The Slovak President extended an invitation to President al-Assad and the President accepted the invitation and promised to fulfill it at due time.
