Iraqi dailies criticize Kuwait
Iraq-Kuwait, Politics, 4/5/2001
The Iraqi dailies issued on Wednesday criticized Kuwait and held it responsible for the failure of the Amman's summit concerning lifting the embargo imposed on Iraq since more than 10 years. This was in retaliation to statements made by the Kuwaiti foreign minister on Tuesday.
The Iraqi daily al-Joumhoreyah said that the ruler of Kuwait when they think they can deceive others by all their groundless lies, by doing so they show their complete ignorance and violation of the Arab and world public opinion.
The paper added that the whole world knows that the Kuwait rulers are main contributors to what Iraq has been exposed to of a continued military aggression and severe sanctions as well as attempts to undermine Iraq's unity and political option.
For its part, the Iraqi daily al-Thawra said that the Kuwaiti rulers refuse to cooperate with the committee which was formed by Amman's summit, under the chairmanship of the Jordanian King Abdullah II in order to follow up what was called " the status between Iraq and Kuwait." The Iraqi paper also commented on statements made by the Kuwaiti ambassador to Jordan Faisal al-Mashaan al-Zeiba in which he said that his country is not committed to any formula concerning its relations with Iraq reached during the deliberations of the recent Amman's summit held last week, stressing: we did only expect such a position from the Kuwaiti rulers."
