British investments in Egypt hit $ 4.4 billion
Egypt-UK, Economics, 4/4/2001
British investments in Egypt have reached $ 4.4 billion within the past five years, British Deputy-Ambassador in Cairo Mike Gifford told a group of businessmen Monday in Port Said governorate.
"Britain, the largest foreign investor in Egypt, is keen on enhancing bilateral cooperation with Egypt in all domains," he said.
The British diplomat said his embassy had decided to direct meetings outside Cairo and Alexandria to promote bilateral cooperation in the cultural and trade spheres. Port Said, he added, was the first station for activities.
On his part, the British Trade Counselor David Rider said that door is open for more trade exchange where Egyptian business can benefit from the programme of trade partners supervised by both the British Foreign Office and Ministry of Commerce.
