Moroccan official calls for more efforts to promote Arab women situation

Morocco called the general congress of Arab women labor commission, stemming from the Arab Labor Organization, to step up efforts to promote the situation of Arab women and enable them play their part in the new world order.
During the opening session of the meeting, Morocco's minister for women condition, family and children protection and integration of handicapped persons, Nouzha Chekrouni, said the Arab states need to adopt policies that take into account women's role as a vital and efficient economic element. Chekrouni, who was elected secretary general of the commission, said the role of the commission should be upgraded within the ALO.
She urged for a social economy that highlights human resources, mainly women who are the most vulnerable social category in Arab societies and pointed out that women are suffering from various problems, including poverty, illiteracy, unemployment and the absence of laws that protect their rights and promote their status.
She also dwelt on the situation of Palestinian women who are facing the repression campaigns led by the Israeli occupation authorities and called Arabs to materialize their solidarity with the Palestinian people.
