More projects on the Nile Basin

Water resources ministers of the Nile basin states approved in conclusion of their meetings which were completed on Thursday evening in al-Khartoum the Nile projects which include Sudan, Egypt,Ethiopia, Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi and Congo.

These projects include works to be established on the Nile for agriculture purposes and for providing potable waters and improving fishery and protecting feeding basins for river tributaries in the basin of Victoria lake, al-Fajeira river basin and Maar river basin as well as water electricity grid project and electrical grid projects among the countries of east Africa including Sudan and Egypt.

The Sudanese minister of irrigation and water resources Kamal Ali Muhammad said that water resources ministers of the Nile basin had decided to establish a coordination unit to prepare for these projects with Uganda as a headquarters. He added that these ministers also agreed to convene a ministerial meeting for the Nile basin in Kampala in May.
