Izzat Ibrahim, al-Sahaf extend their stay in Amman
Iraq-Regional, Politics, 3/30/2001

Baghdad radio said on Thursday afternoon that deputy chairman of the revolution's leadership in Iraq Izzat Ibrahim has extended his visit to Jordan. The Arab country which was assigned by the Arab summit to follow up contacts to reach reconciliation between Baghdad and Kuwait.

While the radio announced the return back of the Iraqi deputy prime minister Tareq Aziz, it noted that the visit of Ibrahim to Jordan will last for " several days."

The Iraqi radio did not mention other details on the program of the visit in which Ibrahim is accompanied by the foreign minister Muhammad Saeed al-Sahaf.

Ibrahim had presided over the Iraqi delegation to the summit conference which concluded its deliberations in Amman on Wednesday without reaching an agreement between Iraq and Kuwait.

Because of this arising problem, the Arab summit, assigned the Jordanian King Abdullah to follow up contacts in order to bring together view points between the two countries. But the Kuwaiti foreign minister Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah who presented his country to Amman's summit returned to Kuwait on Wednesday evening.

However, Iraq and Kuwait had exchanged accusations to obstructing reaching a draft resolution on the relations between the two countries.

On the other hand, the Iraqi dailies on Thursday criticized resolutions of the Arab Summit and the summit was considered by the Iraqi daily al-Thawra ( revolution) as a rhetoric and beyond the expected level in two of the most important current issues, namely the question of Palestine and the question of the siege imposed on Iraq.
