Regional, Economics, 3/30/2001
Egypt's minister of the economy and foreign trade Youssef Butrous Ghali has stressed that the Arab economic summit called to be convened by the Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak in Cairo in November has been greatly welcomed by the Arab states. He added that he has felt this pan Arab interest in such a summit during the special meeting of the Arab ministers of finance and the economy which was held in Amman last Friday.
Ghali said that such a summit is a first gathering of its kind which aims at revitalizing the role of the private sector of Arab trade, as this sector has become the main cornerstone to economic development and for liberalizing trade in the Arab states.
