Al-Hariri and the file of the Syrian- Lebanese relations
Lebanon-Syria, Politics, 3/28/2001

The press office of the Lebanese prime minister Rafik al-Hariri has stressed that the file of the Lebanese- Syrian relations is the responsibility of the Lebanese state. A matter which the state gives necessary care, calling all Lebanese to resort to the language of " amity and dialogue" away from marginal sectarian calculations.

In a statement issued by the Lebanese daily al-Mustaqbil, the press office expressed its rejection to the language used by certain men of religion in Akkar district which criticized the Maronite Patriarch mar Nasrullah Sfeir, stressing, at the same time, rejection for Sfeir's stances towards the Syrian presence in Lebanon.

The statement added, we do refuse this way of talking among the Lebanese especially among the religious figures who should resort to the language of moderate and logic more than any other language in order to serve the higher interests of Lebanon, coexistence and the strategic relation between Lebanon and Syria.
