Confrontation in Areiha, Hebron and Gaza. One Israeli settler killed

While the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon has renewed his stand in rejecting to withdraw from the occupied Palestinian territories and dismantling the settlements, the Israeli forces opened fire at a Palestinian demonstration in Areiha ( Jerihco ) in protest of the of the imposed tough siege.

Eye-witnesses said that the Arab youths confronted the Israeli forces by stones and that the Palestinian youth Hassan Mansour was wounded during a demonstration near al-Mintar crossing.

Sources at the Palestinian al-Shefaa hospital in Gaza said that said youth was hit in his tummy by an explosive bullet and he is in a critical condition.

On Monday afternoon, confrontation renewed in Hebron between the Palestinian Intifada youths on the one hand and the Israeli occupation forces, and settlers in Hebron, on the other and the Palestinians retaliated to the live bullets and the tear gas by explosives and throwing stones.

News reports said that two Israeli settlers were hit one of them died later and the confrontation continued strongly in the city as a result of the continued provocation made by the settlers.

Meantime, a position for the Israeli army at the Egyptian- Israeli borders in Gaza was exposed to thrown stones.

Meanwhile, the divan of the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon said that the Israeli government has no intention to dismantle any settlement in the West Bank and Gaza and that it is also persistent not to negotiate with the Palestinian Authority before ultimate halting of the Palestinian Intifada.

On the other hand, a Palestinian official has stressed that the polluted Israeli waters which flew into the Palestinian territories from Israeli water reservoirs are threatening of an environmental disaster.

The Palestinian official added that the polluted Israeli waters which leaked from Nahal Auz from southern Gaza estimated at 3.5 million cubic meters covered more than 1,000 dunnums of the implanted Palestinian lands.
