Al-Faisal: sanctions imposed on Iraq failed

The Saudi foreign minister prince Saud al-Faisal stressed that his country is for lifting the sanctions imposed on Iraq.
The Saudi foreign minister added from Amman where he is attending the meetings of the Arab summit conference due today in a statement to the London- based al-Hayat daily issued on Monday " we call for lifting the sanctions from Iraq with our hope that the UN Security Council will respond to that."
He continued that it was found out that the UN sanctions did not fulfil its set objectives and damaged the Iraqi people and besides had no positive result to serving the region's security and stability.
The Saudi minister, on the other hand noted that need that Iraq has to implement UN Security Council resolutions pertinent to Kuwait and to ensure stability to neighboring states.
