Early legislative elections are expected in Algeria

Well-informed Algerian sources expected that Algerian President Abdul Aziz Butaflika will shortly announce making an early legislative elections to be held before March 2002, while the current elections law in Algeria states the need of having these elections 90 days, at most, of the elapse of the fifth year of electing members of the parliament.
The sources also expect that Butaflika will announce an earlier elections in two months in order to enable members of the parliament from starting this task with the beginning of the " Spring parliamentary session."
The sources continued that whatsoever, the next Autumn session which will start in October 2nd will be the last session for members of the National People's Council.
The sources expected the Algerian President to invite the election commission before next October, but is not known whether Butaflika will found an independent national committee to monitor the elections as demanded by the political parties.
