Al-Hjeilan expressed happiness over ending border disputes among Gulf states

The secretary general of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states has expressed his happiness over ending border issues suspended between the Arab Gulf states, the last of which is signing the final border agreement between Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

In a press statement issued on Friday in al-Riyadh Sheikh al-Hjeilan said that closing the file of the suspended border issues among the Arab Gulf states which came after Saudi Arabia and Qatar signed the final agreement to demarcate land borders and appointing the sea border line as a sign of linkage among the GCC member states and assertion to eliminate all obstacles hindering the interests of peoples and peoples.

Al-Hjeilan stressed that eliminating the questions of borders will ensure the leaders of the GCC member states " far-sighted vision and outlook" that will help them to attain what the GCC inspires to strengthen ties among its member states.

On March 21, the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia Saud al-Faisal and the Qatari foreign minister Hamad Bin Jasem Bin Jaber al-Thani signed in Doha the final maps for what has been completed of land borders and what was decided concerning on the sea border between Saudi Arabia and Qatar to end thereby a joint border lasted for 35 years.
