Moroccan human rights association holds congress

The Moroccan human rights association (AMDH) will hold its 6th congress on March 30 in the sea resort of Bouznika, near Rabat.
The congress will be attended by some 278 participants, including 60 women, member of the association central committee, Abdelilah Ben Abdesslam said at a news briefing during which the AMDH presented its annual report on "human rights violations in Morocco in 2000."
The AMDH member said more than 48 observers will also take part in the congress.
AMDH chairman, Abderrahmane Ben Amrou, announced his decision not to run for a second term at the head of the association. He explained his decision by his faith in renewal, saying he wants to leave the opportunity to other potentialities in the association. He said he will continue his struggle for the promotion of human rights in Morocco both from within and outside the AMDH.
