German firm pledges to hire Moroccan diploma holders
Morocco-Germany, Business, 3/23/2001

The Moroccan Branch of the German firm Automotive Wiring Systems pledged to hire 1,500 Moroccan diploma holders by the end of 2001.

The graduates will be hired under a partnership accord concluded Wednesday between the Moroccan Vocational Training and Labor Promotion Office (OFPPT) and Automotive Wiring Systems, an offshoot of the German Volkswagen and Siemens Group.

OFPPT undertakes, for its part, to technically assist Automotive Wiring Systems in matters of recruitment engineering and to train the German firm's staff.

The Automotive Wiring Systems, whose investment budget for 2001 stands at 100 million Dirhams ($ 10 million), will start operating in the Tangiers off-shore zone as of next April.

The firm, specializing in car cable making, is a multi-national with three logistics centers in Germany and three production centers in Poland, Slovakia and Turkey. It employs 7,200 people.
