Al-Assad gets a phone call from Putin, welcomes Russian role in ME peace

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on Thursday received a telephone call from the Russian President Vladimir Putin during which talks dealt with the situation in the Middle East region in light of the recent incidents relating to the peace process as well as bilateral relations between Syria and Russia and means of developing them. The Syrian President welcomed an effective Russian role in the peace process, in Russia's being one of the ME peace process cosponsor.
President Putin congratulated President al-Assad on his successful performance since he assumed presidency in Syria and expressed best wishes for his continued success.
