Moroccan, French foreign ministers meet in Paris

French and Moroccan foreign ministers, Hubert Vedrine and Mohamed Benaissa, held in Paris Wednesday tete-a-tete talks that mainly focused on the recent developments in the Middle East, in the prospect of the Arab summit that will take place in Amman March 27-28.
Benaissa paid a work visit to France on his way back from New York, where he met UN Secretary General, Kofi Annan.
Benaissa told MAP the meeting with Vedrine is part of regular consultations between the two countries and took place on the eve of the Arab summit and the European Union ministers' council, to be held in Stockholm.
Talks also covered bilateral relations few weeks before the coming meeting of the two countries' Prime Ministers, scheduled in Paris on May 3, and in light of the works of the new structure that was recently set up by the two sides to draw the broad lines of a new strategic partnership, a diplomatic source told MAP.
Inter-Maghreban cooperation was also at the center of the Vedrine-Benaissa talks.
Benaissa will later on fly to Amman, Jordan, to attend the Arab foreign ministers' meeting preceding the Arab summit.
