One Palestinian officer, One child were killed in confrontation with Israelis

One Palestinian army officer was killed and two others wounded as a result of the Israeli artillery violent bombardment at Force center no. 17 in Gaza of the personal guards for the chairman of the Palestinian Authority Yasser Arafat.

The Israeli army on Wednesday continued its attacks against the Palestinians and bombardment of their houses and they roads they used to go to their farms.

The Israeli army also opened fire at the Palestinians at the crossings near Nevit Dekalim and Gadit in the area of Ghoushe Kative settlements in Gaza.

The Palestinian Intifada youths retaliated by throwing stones on the Israeli vehicles and settlers. They also opened fire at the Israeli forces inside Nevit Dekalim settlement.

The Israeli authorities on Wednesday imposed curfew on Housan villages of Bethlehem district in the West Bank. The Israeli radio claimed that this curfew came after an explosive charge was thrown on Tuesday at an Israeli car passed near the village.

Meantime, the decision of the Jewish municipal council in occupied Jerusalem to build new 2832 settlement units in Abu Ghneim settlement has raged the Palestinians who stressed that this Israeli decision explains the aggressive attitude of the new Israeli government.

A spokesman for the Israeli police said that a booby-trapped car was found in a quarters for extremists Israelis in Jerusalem.

The Israeli radio said that a team of Israeli experts dismantled the explosive which was in the car.

The Israeli radio also said that an Israeli military force chased a sedan car under the pretext of that it does not abide by orders given by members of an Israeli military barrier, opened fire at the car and arrested one of its passengers.

Following this incident hundreds of Palestinians from al-Aysaweyah quarters arrived in the site, clashed with members of the israeli force and could release the arrested passenger.

Meantime Palestinian medical sources said on Wednesday that a four year old Palestinian child died on Tuesday after the Israeli forces prevented him from going to one of Egyptian hospitals for medical treatment.

One of the doctors who supervised the medical treatment of child Abdul Fattah Jawhar al-Sebakhi told the AFP that this child who is from Khan Younis, to the south of Gaza died at Rafah border crossing with Egypt as the Israeli forces refused to permit him and his father to leave for Egypt for medical treatment.

In Brussels the European parliament and the Belgian foreign ministry expressed their regret over Israel's prevention of a Belgian plane carrying aids to the Palestinians from landing at Gaza airport under the pretext of security reasons.

In a statement the chairperson of the European Parliament Nicole Fontine and the spokesman for the Belgian foreign ministry expressed regret over the Israeli behaviors and for Israel's continued closure of Gaza airport before the Belgian aids to the Palestinian people.
