The UN Security Council and protection of the Palestinians
Palestine-Regional, Politics, 3/22/2001

The Arab Group at the UN has linked the date of the UN Security council date to vote on a draft resolution of protecting the Palestinians to the Arab summit in Amman. The Arab group informed member of the UN Security Council that it is persistent to vote before March 27, the date of the Arab summit.

The chairman of the Arab group at the UN for the current month Muhammad Jasem Damhan al-Nueimi said that the main point is that the UN Security Council will deal with this matter before the Arab summit so as the Arab leaders would have known the American, European and Russian positions to this effect.

Palestine Representative at the UN Naser al-Qidwa said: " we want to finish with this matter at the UN Security Council on Friday." He added " It is our right to know the heart of the matter before the meeting of the Arab leaders."
